Webinar 3: Insecure Identities + NTLM: A dangerous cocktail

In June 2023, we hosted a webinar that delved into the topic of ‘Insecure Identities.’ The level of interest was significant, prompting us to once again place identities on the agenda. Building upon how actors often exploit legitimate identities, this webinar will shine a light on on the dangerous cocktail of insecure identities and NTLM.

Statistics shows that 80% of all security breaches are connected to compromised identities. This highlights the critical role of identity protection within of cybersecurity. It involves establishing and maintaining trust in users’ identities and ensuring that only authorized users gain access to systems, data, and resources.

NTLM (New Technology LAN Manager) is a standard protocol used for identity authentication. Despite recommendations to disable NTLM, it remains widely used by many companies. The combination of insecure identities and the use of NTLM is a risky concoction, and serves as the focal point of this webinar.

The EU directive that updates and expands existing European legislation, introduces critical provisions for organizations to safeguard their digital infrastructure and data, particularly in sectors of paramount importance to society across the European Union. 

With the directive poised to take effect in October 2024, it leaves organizations with less than a year to align themselves with the NIS2 requirements. Comprehending NIS2 and ensuring compliance is of utmost importance as the digital landscape continues to evolve.
